UBTECH and FAW-Volkswagen will test humanoids on factory logistics
The 8 October agreement is a trial, not an order. No model, fleet size, or start date has been published. Earlier work at Qingdao was vehicle inspection.

UBTECH and FAW-Volkswagen have agreed to develop and test humanoid robots for factory logistics, the companies said on 8 October. The work is meant to produce demonstration sites inside vehicle plants. It does not name a robot model, a number of units, a contract value, or a date when a shift would start.
This extends work already done at FAW-Volkswagen’s Qingdao plant, where UBTECH’s Walker S Lite was tried on quality inspection, including bolt tightening and parts handling. Logistics is the next repetitive job: moving components around a line that changes with the car being built. A demonstration site is the right next step. It is not a deployment.
